Saint Nathaniel's Academy

Saint Nathaniel’s is a large primary school in Stoke on Trent. The school offers pupils opportunities to participate in a wide range of art forms, both in curriculum time and as extra-curricular opportunities. In the school’s arts week, 120 children achieved Discover with 55 working towards Explore.

Sawston Village College

Sawston Village College offers Bronze Arts Award in dance, film, music, theatre and visual arts as a voluntary extra-curricular activity. One project was delivered as part a First Light film-making programme.

Sheppey Matters

Based on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, Sheppey Matters is a community organisation that delivers a range of health and wellbeing projects. Arts Award is offered at all five levels through the arts and media and youth
provision programmes. The award is delivered through one to one and group work with the emphasis on young people taking ownership of their learning. 

Sheppey Street Studio Digital Bronze case study

On the Isle of Sheppey, one centre has successfully created a digital Bronze Arts Award programme and is now aiming towards Silver.  Young people are learning to code their own games whilst trying a wider range of digital opportunities including thinking about how virtual reality will change our arts experiences in the future.

South Devon College

Michael Hurley Arts Award Centre at South Devon College delivered Arts Award Bronze to a group of young people from two 'non-mainstream' groups. Half of the group were disengaged from mainstream education and atteninding altenrative provision, and the other half were from home-educated backgrounds. Through taking part in Arts Award the group learnt  arange of new art skills including graffiti, radio and film; whilst building their confidence, social skills and self-esteem.

South Tyneside Libraries

South Tyneside Libraries has been delivering Arts Award for over a year and 63 young people have achieved Arts Award. Their delivery model is based around their core offer as a public library service using literature, creative writing and poetry as their main art forms.

St Joseph's College

St Joseph’s College is an independent school in Ipswich. They have been
offering Arts Award for over three years to students from primary through to
senior years. So far 200 young people have achieved awards in Dance, Drama
and Design.

St Mary's Primary School

St Mary's Primary School offers Arts Award Explore to 9 to 11 year olds through a weekly art club run by Year 3 teacher and Arts Award adviser, Helen Seed. The school offers instrumental tuition including violin, flute and guitar which will also be included in the award. In the autumn term, Arts Award Discover is being offered to Key Stage 1 children through a project called 'Lullaby' with the City of London Sinfonia.

Staffordshire Library Service used Arts Award Discover and Explore as a way of encouraging children to expand their knowledge of various art forms through fun activities with professional support, and to showcase the library resources available within Staffordshire with the aim of attracting new visitors.

Staffordshire Library Service Arts Award Centre is made up of public libraries in Cannock and Rugeley, Staffordshire. Together they offer Arts Award through targeted projects based at libraries and linked to local schools and community organisations in the area.

Stella Photis, Blazing Sables - independent practitioner case study

Blazing Sables Makeup Artist Training School is based in Walthamstow London. They train future makeup artists & industry professionals. They’ve been running Bronze for the last two years and have taken 17 students through to moderation. Stella Photis, the Founder and Director of Blazing Sables has used Bronze, Silver and Gold as a starting point to build her own courses as a progression route to becoming a makeup artist/industry professional.

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

STAR (Sussex Training and Arts Resource) is the Arts Award centre for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust which provides specialist mental health, substance misuse, learning disability and prison healthcare services. This centre works primarily with art therapists who offer Arts Award to young people as an element of their art therapy intervention.

This pilot project explored the use of Arts Award Bronze in art therapy practice.
