Sorry if I state the obvious here…. because I work with NEET young people (Not In Education Employment or Training) I plan around/anticipate attendance issues. Young people sign assessment sheets at the beginning of the project, on a number of occasions this has solved the situation where they’ve done the work, clearly should pass but have disappeared in the last week for whatever reason. This may sound harsh but diaries and artwork stay in the project space! Too much work has been lost in the past. Keen young people can bring work in to be added to their diary, I don’t want to discourage this level of interest. In terms of young people turning up for moderation, I can usually identify  2 or 3 young people who will turn up (out of total 9 or 10), I have stated the importance of having 25% present and asked for volunteers. Generally, if they see that not turning up will mean no-one gets an award, they find the motivation to turn up!
