Alabaré E Zone is a young people’s drop in centre in Andover, Hampshire. The young people supported at the centre are aged between 13 and 25 experiencing issues such as homelessness, drink and drug abuse and domestic violence. Many students have learning difficulties and autism. In their first year delivering Arts Award, the centre has taken three groups totalling over 50 young people through to Bronze moderation. | ||
Alabare e zone: Bronze through Social Action | ||

Alabare runs The Junction, a drop in centre in Hampshire supporting young people aged between 13 and 25 who may be NEET, living in hostels, street homeless, have learning difficulties or have mental health issues. For this Bronze Arts Award project, The Junction worked in partnership with Fixers, an initiative set up to support young people to create real change among their peers and in their communities. By working with Fixers, students were able to deliver a social action project about an issue they felt strongly about, using music as their chosen art form. | ||
Derbyshire County Council - Look After Children | ||

Derbyshire County Council (DCC) trained a large number of Residential Children’s Workers as Arts Award advisers. Children and young people are looked after in residential children’s homes, with foster carers, and in respite care. Arts Award is now delivered in Derbyshire as part of a range of Additional and/or Alternative Provision for children in care, care leavers, vulnerable young people, and those at risk of being NEET (not in employment, education or training), and has been aligned to Derbyshire’s development of Social Pedagogy. Arts Award has been evidenced as an effective tool for staff to build relationships with children and young people and help them learn through their own interests and passions. | ||
EOTAS1 Northumberland | ||

EOTAS1 (Education Other Than At School) Northumberland works across North and South East Northumberland to deliver arts activities to young people who are not attending school. The young people they work with are mostly 13 – 16 years old and have often had difficulties attending school due to chronic illness or long-term mental health issues. They delivered a Silver Arts Award project which involved young people creating books of stories, which they also animated. | ||
Future Steps by Future Creative CIC | ||

Future Creative is a Community Interest Company working with children, young people and adults throughout the South East. The Future Steps project was ran in Kent and Medway in partnership with CXK. It focused on youth engagement and raising employability and enterprise skills among NEET young people (not in education, employment and training). Future Creative accredited the Future Steps project using Bronze Arts Award. | ||
Islington Youth Offending Service | ||

Young people from Islington Youth Offending service who were not in education, employment, or training, or were high-risk individuals, took part in the Summer Arts College programme. The group learnt a range of filmmaking techniques and produced their own series of short films, whilst working towards their Silver Arts Award. | ||

Bronze Arts Award forms the framework for much of their work with young people. | ||

People United is an innovative charity based in Canterbury that explores how the arts and creativity can grow kindness, empathy and a sense of common humanity. Their Role Models project was delivered in association with Lunsford Primary School and supported with investment from Artswork, the South East Arts Council Bridge organisation. Through the social action project the children were able to make a difference to, and gain a greater respect for, the older people they met in their local community. | ||
