The festival is a great opportunity for a trip out with your students that allows them to see high quality new plays and take part in workshops, admission is free to school groups.

Each day of the festival there is particular focus and some of the performances can be reviewed to go towards coursework for GCSE Drama/English or A level or of course the reviewing parts of Arts Award!

Wednesday 7th May is ‘Secondary Schools Day’ - performances from the 2013 winning playwriting competition and the Shakespeare Schools Festival as well as a workshop on writing influenced by Shakespeare.

Friday 9th May is ‘Primary Schools Day’  - a range of Shakespeare inspired workshops and performances of the 2013 winning Children’s play.

Saturday 10th May is ‘Gala Day’ - showcasing performances throughout the day with an awards ceremony in the evening. A special premier of the Orchestra of the Swan’s composition piece created for the Bard’s birthday.

Engaging in the festival could be a trip or visit that you can include in your Artsmark application as well as really enriching your drama or English curriculum plans.
